Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH: “The next Level of Mobility” for India

WAPCOS is a technology driven consultancy and Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization. The company is located under the administrative control of the Union Ministry of Water Resource, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India. WAPCOS has a strong global presence working in the field of Water, Power and Infrastructure. As a provider of integrated and customized solutions for sustainable development of infrastructure projects, WAPCOS is taking actions towards implementing new modes of transport. The goal is to decongest urban areas and provide connectivity to remote areas. Therefore the company recently signed a MoU for the ‘Development of Ropeway Systems’ with Doppelmayr India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Doppelmayr Seibahnen GmbH. As a quality, technology and market leader in ropeway engineering, Doppelmayr Seilbahnen GmbH operates production plants as well as sales and service centers in over 40 countries worldwide. To date, the Group has built more than 15,000 installations for customers in 95 nations meeting all the challenges of traditional and new markets. Cable cars in the urban area represent “The next Level of Mobility” offering access for all, leaving no one behind and contributing to a sustainable development in cities.

The MoU will enable WAPCOS and Doppelmayr to develop ropeway projects in various states of India. The projects will be developed under top safety and reliability standards for passengers. The implementation of ropeways will not only reduce traffic congestion and pollution but will also contribute to a sustainable development of tourism destinations providing employment and new opportunities in India.
